VINELAND, N.J. (WPVI) -- There was a groundbreaking ceremony on Monday for the City of Vineland's first special needs park.
It will be constructed at the Romano Youth Sports Complex on Maple Avenue.
Officials said the park will feature eight diverse activity areas. They will include seven playground zones with accessible equipment, and a dedicated sensory garden designed for children on the autism spectrum.
There will also be a splash pad area, and an inclusive exercise circuit station. Officials said additional amenities such as picnic tables, benches and improved parking will help ensure the park is welcoming and accessible for all visitors.
